Are you asking when it is? It already happened - it was on Saturday Jan 9. I feel like a stalker but I swear I signed up to twitter and add ppl on facebook just for things like this - seems like they all put promotional stuff on blast. I like that eclipse and sucio both announce upcoming shows on the radio but if I miss listening to an episode or something, you miss out. (like the styles p & sean p show coming up, or the mf doom / mos def show...)
As for the show, it was pretty good - got to see Sene, Donwill of Tanya Morgan do a solo set, Tiron (never heard him before but he was pretty good) and of course Homeboy Sandman. Unfortunately they cut his set short - don't know what happened but they just cut the drinks off and turned the lights on after a couple songs and cleared people out so they could let in another event or something.
The thing that bothered me that night is that it was hosted by Peter Rosenberg (Hot 97 here in NY) and between every set he kept patting himself on the back saying things like "yeah, see this is real hip hop, I'm behind these cats and these are dope mcs" etc etc. I'm glad if his "fame" can bring eyes and ears to deserving mcs, but he's preaching to the choir at an event like that - of course if we came out to the show we are fans of those artists, it's just his self-congratulatory thing got old and bothered me - kinda sayin he's the only one in NY playing real hip hop music. On Sunday night he then went ahead and played tanya, homeboy sand, tiron, etc. on the air, which is dope, but we know he's not the only one doing it and he's not even the first on his station... (squeeze fans of course know going back to stretch and bob, even earlier, and of course in the years since (future flavas, etc.) that they've had a slot on sunday nights for mixes like that.) |
